History
Interket was established the 8th february 1961 by Antoni Esteve Aguilera. It was the first knitting fabrics manufacturer in Spain. It was the pioneer of a lot of factories that began to make business in the following years and it was placed in Igualada, in Milà i Fontanals street, where it is still placed now.
Before the establishment of the business, there was a preceding company, called "Terraxinesa". It was placed in Rambla Sant Ferran, of Igualada. After a short time, there was not room enough and the company facilities were transferred to the current address. Interket was then founded.
During the following years, Interket produced and sold knitting fabrics. Joaquim Esteve, who is currently the manager, joined the company, and its continuous growth has made from Interket one of the leading companies of its sector.
There are two key years in the history of Interket. Firstly, 1976, when a fire destroyed the warehouse and all its content. Even though it was a catastrophe for the company, this gave a boost to the organization. Simultaneously with the reconstruction of the warehouse, new facilities for offices were build.
The second key year is 1994, when a new manufacturing plant was set up. The new facilities are in Carrer Roca, a few meters far from the headquarters in Carrer Milà i Fontanals. Thanks to the new plant and to the acquisition of 18 new knitting machines, the production grew in quantity and in quality.
